Team captain Leon Smith described the situation as difficult, acknowledging Norrie's ongoing concerns about the injury and expressing disappointment over his absence. Smith noted that Norrie remains committed to supporting the team despite being unable to compete.

In light of Norrie’s withdrawal, Arthur Fery will assume the role of the team’s No. 1 singles player for the tie, which will be held at the Copper Box Arena in London. Fery, ranked world No. 36, is set to return to competitive play on home soil following his run to the Wimbledon semi-finals in July. He made his Davis Cup debut last year in the match against Poland and emphasized the significance of representing his country in a team competition.

With Fery moving up to lead the singles lineup, Toby Samuel has been promoted to the No. 2 singles position for the upcoming matches against Ecuador. The British team will look to adapt their lineup as they prepare to compete in the Davis Cup tie without one of their key players.
