Prime Minister’s Defence Adviser Brigadier General (retd) Dr AKM Shamsul Islam emphasized the importance of discipline, responsibility, self-confidence, and practical skills for trainees participating in a new pilot training project, during an event held on Sunday. The initiative launched simultaneously across nine districts—Savar in Dhaka, Tangail, Sylhet, Chattogram, Barishal, Bogura, Gazipur, Patuakhali, and Rajshahi.
Addressing the participants, Dr Islam encouraged them to approach the training seriously and utilize the opportunity to strengthen both individual and collective capabilities. The program targets members of the Ansar-VDP, Bangladesh National Cadet Corps (BNCC), and Scouts, providing comprehensive capability-enhancement training overseen by their respective organizations.
Additionally, the pilot project incorporates a week-long civil defence training component for Ansar-VDP and Scouts members, conducted under the supervision of the Fire Service and Civil Defence department. The overarching goal is to bolster the skills of personnel across these organizations while fostering youth development and enhancing the nation’s security preparedness.
The inaugural sessions saw the participation of senior officials from the Bangladesh Army, Navy, and Air Force, alongside high-ranking representatives from various related organizations, reflecting the multidisciplinary support behind the initiative. The project is expected to serve as a foundation for building a more disciplined, skilled, and capable security and civil defence workforce in the participating regions.
