The Denver Broncos secured a 17-14 overtime victory against the Seattle Seahawks on Thursday night, relying heavily on their defense despite ongoing struggles on offense and special teams. The game, held at Denver’s home stadium, marked the Broncos’ fourth win in six games this season amid a series of injuries and inconsistent offensive performance.

Ja’Quan McMillian played a crucial role in the outcome by intercepting Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold during the extra period. This turnover set up Wil Lutz’s 53-yard field goal, which ultimately decided the contest in Denver’s favor.

Despite the win, the Broncos’ offense continued to underwhelm. Quarterback Bo Nix completed the game with just 107 passing yards, while running back J.K. Dobbins led the ground attack with only 41 yards. Denver managed a mere three first downs and totaled 168 yards of offense, less than half the 353 yards recorded by Seattle.

Nix openly acknowledged the struggles, noting the offense’s difficulty in executing vertical plays. “I don’t know why we can’t really push the ball vertically right now,” he said. “But defenses are just sitting back and hanging out. … Hopefully we find a way to get more out of it.” Nix added that the team is capable of more but is currently struggling to generate explosive plays that define effective offenses.

On the defensive side, the Broncos applied consistent pressure on Darnold, sacking him five times and hitting him 17 times throughout the game. Seattle’s coach, Mike Macdonald, expressed concern over the protection of his quarterback, stating, “The quarterback’s getting hit way too much. Everybody sees that.”

The Seahawks, now 3-3 for the season, suffered their second loss in five days and matched their total number of defeats from the previous season, a year in which they secured their second Super Bowl championship.

Denver’s victory highlights the team’s resilience amid adversity but also underscores the need for improvement in offensive execution moving forward. The Broncos will look to build on their 4-2 start as they approach the midpoint of the season.
