Michael Wynn-Jones, former majority shareholder of Norwich City Football Club and husband of celebrity chef Delia Smith, has died at the age of 85. He passed away peacefully at his home on Monday morning, surrounded by family.

Wynn-Jones and Smith jointly held the majority stake in Norwich City from the late 1990s until 2024, when American billionaire Mark Attanasio acquired controlling interest in the club. During their tenure, the couple became well-known figures in English football, closely associated with the club’s management and community presence.

Norwich City issued a statement expressing their sorrow over Wynn-Jones’s death and paid tribute to his contributions. The club referred to him as their honorary life president and extended condolences to his wife, daughter Tom, and all their relatives and friends. The statement also acknowledged the care provided to Wynn-Jones by the community nursing team at St Elizabeth Hospice in Ipswich.

The family has requested privacy during this period of mourning.
