The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) has expanded its “Red to Blue” program by adding six new House seats to the list of competitive districts it aims to flip from Republican to Democratic control. The move raises the total number of targeted districts to 46, with the committee pledging enhanced support for the candidates entering the initiative.

The newly added candidates and their districts are Chris Jones in Arkansas’s 2nd Congressional District, Dwayne Romero in Colorado’s 3rd District, Eliott Rodriguez in Florida’s 27th District, Teresa Benitez-Thompson in Nevada’s 2nd District, Blake Gendebien in New York’s 21st District, and Justin Pearson in Tennessee’s 9th District. These candidates will receive expanded resources including fundraising assistance, strategic guidance, training, and additional staffing to bolster their campaigns ahead of the 2026 midterm elections.

DCCC Chair Representative Suzan DelBene of Washington emphasized the urgency of providing Americans with representatives committed to addressing economic challenges. “At a time when so many families are struggling to pay the bills, Americans deserve representatives who will actually fight to make their lives better,” she said in a statement.

Republican officials, however, have expressed skepticism about the effectiveness of the program. A spokesperson for the National Republican Congressional Committee, Mike Marinella, criticized Democrats’ designation of battleground districts as “wishful thinking” that does not alter the underlying political landscape of the House.

Despite this Republican pushback, recent polling indicates a potential advantage for Democrats. The latest RealClearPolitics average shows the Democratic Party holding an 8.5 percentage-point lead over the Republican Party in the generic congressional ballot, a barometer often used to gauge overall voter sentiment ahead of congressional elections.

With just over a year remaining before voters head to the polls, the intensified focus on competitive districts reflects both parties’ efforts to consolidate support and build momentum. The DCCC’s expansion of the “Red to Blue” program underscores the strategic priority Democrats place on reclaiming control of the House, while Republicans maintain that the political environment remains favorable to their caucus.
