Six more people died of dengue fever in the 24 hours leading up to 8 a.m. on Sunday, bringing the total number of fatalities in the country this year to 262, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS). During the same period, 2,089 new dengue patients were admitted to hospitals nationwide.
The recent deaths include three from the Khulna division, two from Dhaka South City Corporation, and one from the Mymensingh division. Since the start of the year, roughly 86,458 dengue cases have required hospitalization across the country, with 80,347 patients reported to have recovered.
The gender distribution among those who have died from dengue stands at 47.7 percent men and 52.3 percent women. Regional data shows that the Dhaka South City Corporation has recorded the highest number of deaths, with 74 reported up to September 28. The Khulna division has reported 51 fatalities in the same period.
Health officials continue to monitor the situation closely as the dengue outbreak remains a significant public health concern. Efforts are ongoing to prevent further spread of the disease through vector control and public awareness campaigns.
