Denise Van Outen, the Essex-born television presenter and actress, is considering moving from her current home as her daughter prepares to become more independent. The 52-year-old, widely recognized as a prominent figure from Essex, revealed that with her daughter Betsy, now 16, gaining greater autonomy, she is reflecting on her own living arrangements.

Van Outen sold a historic 17th-century farmhouse in Biddenden, Kent, in 2018 for £1.4 million. She had purchased the property with then-husband Lee Mead, an actor she met while judging the BBC talent show *Any Dream Will Do* in 2007. The couple married in 2009 but separated in 2013, citing long periods of time spent apart due to their careers. They maintain a co-parenting relationship, with Van Outen taking on much of the day-to-day responsibility for their daughter.

Following her separation from Mead, Van Outen moved back to Essex with then-fiancé Eddie Boxshall. However, she ended that relationship upon discovering explicit messages he had exchanged with other women. Since returning, she has enjoyed being closer to her aging parents and family in Essex, a move she described as “coming back to my motherland.” Van Outen remarked on the importance of maintaining a strong family connection for both herself and Betsy, who has formed a close bond with her grandparents.

Despite her fondness for Essex and rural life, Van Outen acknowledges that her daughter may seek a more urban lifestyle in the near future. Betsy is expected to seek a flat share and a job among more vibrant surroundings, which has prompted Van Outen to contemplate relocating herself. “I wouldn’t want to be here on my own,” she said, noting that she does not see her current residence as her “forever home.”

Van Outen frequently visits Mersea Island, appreciating its coastal charm and convenient access to London. She also enjoys shopping trips to Chelmsford and Lakeside. Looking ahead, she envisions moving to a more energetic environment but remains uncertain about the exact location.

Reflecting on her age and public profile, Van Outen said she is less concerned about others’ opinions now than when she was younger. “You kind of wish your younger self was a little bit more fearless,” she commented, emphasizing a newfound confidence and willingness to prioritize her own enjoyment.
