Electing to bowl first, Kent made an early breakthrough when Keith Dudgeon caught Archie Vaughan behind for five. Somerset responded with resilient batting, led by Lewis Goldsworthy’s top score of 87, Savin Perera’s 75, and Joshua Thomas’ 60, helping the visitors post 313 for nine.
