Six rescued dogs were adopted at a pet adoption event organised by property developer IJM Land in Seremban, Negri Sembilan. The event, held at S2 Heights Aman, aimed to promote adoption, responsible pet ownership, and community engagement with animal welfare groups.
The Paws to Home programme brought together local residents, animal welfare organisations, and government representatives, including support from the Seremban District Information Department. During the event, 31 pets were neutered, 12 pet licence applications were submitted, and vaccinations and microchipping were provided.
Datuk Chai Kian Soo, chief operating officer of IJM Land, emphasised the responsibility that comes with caring for animals. He said the event offered attendees opportunities to act on that responsibility by adopting pets, learning about proper care, contributing supplies, or supporting organisations dedicated to rescued animals. IJM Land also showcased the neighbourhood’s pet zone, a designated outdoor area encouraging social interaction among pet owners and their animals.
Execute AWA, a national animal welfare movement, featured an educational corner focused on their #ProjekTogetherBoleh initiative, which seeks to address the country’s stray animal population through prevention strategies. Its founder, Sue Ann Kong, expressed appreciation for IJM Land’s participation in the project.
Other participating groups included NS Happy Paws and FurryKids Safehaven. Jude Ignatius Lazaroo, chairman of NS Happy Paws, highlighted the organisation’s goal to foster safe, responsible, and respectful coexistence between communities and animals. He noted the importance of ongoing dialogue with local authorities to address welfare challenges with data-driven solutions.
Kiran Bhatt, president of FurryKids Safehaven, noted that the #ProjekTogetherBoleh framework complements efforts by the Seremban City Council (MBS). These efforts include licensing requirements, sterilisation incentives, rescue operations, microchipping, and cooperative work with NGOs and government bodies to manage stray dogs.
In addition to facilitating adoptions, the event saw IJM Land contribute RM1,000 each to NS Happy Paws and FurryKids Safehaven to support their ongoing animal welfare activities.
