Brett Pesce scored the go-ahead goal in the third period as the New Jersey Devils defeated the Los Angeles Kings 3-1 on Wednesday night at the Prudential Center. The victory marked the Devils’ third consecutive win on their home stand, which also included victories over the Colorado Avalanche and Anaheim Ducks.

Jake Allen contributed by making 12 saves for New Jersey, while Kings goaltender Anton Forsberg stopped 23 shots in the loss. The Kings had their two-game winning streak snapped with the defeat.

New Jersey took control of the game in the third period when Pesce found a clear path through the Kings’ defense and scored at 8:08, assisted by Luke Evangelista and Artemy Gritsyuk. This marked Pesce’s first goal of the season. Earlier, Anthony Mantha and Gritsyuk also scored for the Devils.

Scott Laughton scored the lone goal for Los Angeles, providing a brief rally for the visiting team. Despite the efforts of Forsberg and Laughton, the Kings were unable to contain the Devils’ offense late in the game.
