The DGC Ladies League officially commenced its new season on September 17 at Doha Golf Club with a Ladies Day event titled “Return of the Queens to the Greens.” The occasion brought together female club members and guests for the Ladies Pairs Shamble Tournament, combining competition with social engagement.

The event served as both a welcome to new participants and a chance to reconnect with established members, highlighting the league’s commitment to fostering a growing community of women golfers in Qatar. The tournament results were tightly contested, with the winning pair determined by net countback. The first-place team was composed of Rukkiya Pachisa and Niamh McDaid, followed by Lyndel Christensen and Marina Nikitina in second place, and Nicola Murdoch paired with Elina Ikstrums securing third.

Several individual hole prizes were also awarded. Betty Faniega recorded the Longest Drive on Hole 3, while Lyndel Christensen claimed the Closest to the Pin on Hole 6. Grapes Curilan earned the Longest Putt Holed prize on Hole 9, adding to the day’s competitive highlights.

Beyond the tournament itself, the event aimed to encourage greater female participation in golf and sport more broadly. The league welcomes women of all skill levels—ranging from seasoned players to beginners—and strives to provide an inclusive and supportive atmosphere. Through this approach, the DGC Ladies League hopes to help women develop their golfing abilities while also building strong social connections within the group.

The league underscores the wider benefits of women’s involvement in sport, noting that golf offers a blend of physical exercise, mental concentration, and social interaction. By fostering opportunities for women to engage and remain active, the organization seeks to contribute to a healthier and more inclusive sporting community in Qatar.

Lyndel Christensen, captain of the DGC Ladies League, expressed gratitude to the main sponsor, Regal 360 Facilities Management, for their generous support. Additional thanks were extended to the Doha Golf Club Pro Shop, Mayfair Hospitality, and Doha Golf Club for their contributions to organizing the event.

Looking ahead, the league plans to build on the success of its opening day, inviting new members and continuing to expand the presence of women’s golf throughout the season. Interested participants can contact Doha Golf Club for further information and upcoming events.
