The Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) has called on Malaysia to support the export of Bangladeshi goods and services to the ASEAN region and encouraged Malaysian investors to consider opportunities in Bangladesh. The appeal was made by DCCI President Taskeen Ahmed during a series of bilateral trade and investment talks held in Kuala Lumpur with the National Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia (NCCIM) and the Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers (FMM).

Taskeen Ahmad outlined a strategic plan to increase Bangladesh’s exports in key sectors, including ready-made garments, pharmaceuticals, electronics, information technology services, jute products, and food items, targeting ASEAN markets. He highlighted Bangladesh’s growing domestic market and positioned it as a potential hub for Malaysian businesses seeking entry into broader South Asian markets.

Representatives from NCCIM and FMM expressed positive interest in expanding trade relations with Bangladesh and acknowledged the valuable role played by Bangladeshi workers in Malaysia’s economy. To further institutionalize collaboration, the DCCI and FMM signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at fostering deeper cooperation in trade and investment between the two countries.

The discussions and agreements reflect ongoing efforts to diversify economic ties and strengthen partnerships within the region, leveraging both Bangladesh’s manufacturing capabilities and Malaysia’s capital and market access.
