Dhar Mann, the filmmaker behind the widely viewed Dhar Mann Studios, is positioning his company to compete directly with major Hollywood studios. Speaking during a recent tour of his Burbank, California, studios, Mann said he considers established entertainment companies his primary competition rather than other digital content creators.
Founded nearly eight years ago in Mann’s downtown Los Angeles apartment, Dhar Mann Studios has grown from modest beginnings—filming videos on smartphones with limited resources—into a multimedia operation with a team of roughly 250 employees and a social media following exceeding 170 million. The studio’s inspirational videos collectively attract close to 300 million weekly views.
Mann has expanded his reach beyond social platforms through partnerships with major corporations, including Samsung, Fox, and Disney. Notably, Dhar Mann Studios recently secured a 20-episode order from Disney, reflecting its increasing presence in traditional media. Mann also serves as the inaugural chief creator officer for Advertising Week New York, where he aims to broker $100 million in deals between brands and content creators at the 2026 event. His brand collaborations include work with Gap, Adobe, and Samsung.
At 42, Mann has received recognition as one of the industry’s most influential figures, earning spots on both Rolling Stone’s 2026 Most Influential Creators list and Adweek’s 2026 Brand Genius Creators list.
Mann’s journey to this point was shaped by earlier professional setbacks. After several unsuccessful business attempts, he shifted his focus away from financial gain toward creating purposeful content. Initially, he produced videos in which he shared personal failures and lessons learned. When those videos attracted little attention, Mann committed to producing 100 videos as an experiment. At the brink of quitting on the 99th video, he changed his approach for the 100th, introducing improvised storytelling paired with voiceover narration—a format that quickly resonated with viewers and went viral.
This storytelling method, grounded in clear moral messages about kindness and refraining from judgment, now underpins Dhar Mann Studios’ broader creative output. Mann contends the line between digital creators and traditional Hollywood entertainment is diminishing. He envisions a future where collaboration between the two fuels media innovation rather than one supplanting the other, emphasizing the synergy rather than division between creators and established studios.
