The furnished two-bedroom apartment formerly owned by jailed ex-New South Wales families minister Gareth Ward has seen its weekly asking rent reduced amid ongoing property challenges. Located on Dowling Street within the Woolloomooloo Waters complex, the 51-square-metre unit is now listed for $895 per week through Ray White Touma Taylor leasing agent Heidi Gouverneur. This marks a decrease from the $950 weekly rent sought earlier in the year.

Despite broader market trends that show an 8 percent annual rise in two-bedroom rents in Woolloomooloo—reaching near-record levels around $1,135 per week—furnished apartments like Ward’s are reportedly less attractive in the long-term rental market compared to their unfurnished counterparts.

Ward originally purchased the apartment in 2017 for $790,000 and at one point advertised it for $790 per week. He also owns a one-bedroom apartment in Potts Point on Springfield Avenue, which was rented out at $800 per week earlier this year. That property gained public attention in July 2024 when Ward reportedly went to Parliament House on a Sunday morning, dressed only in underwear, to collect a spare key after locking himself out.

Ward was convicted of rape and sentenced in October 2023, a conviction that has cast a shadow over his personal and professional life, including his real estate holdings.
