Novak Djokovic secured his seventh men's singles title at the China Open on Tuesday after Australia’s Alex De Minaur retired during the final match. The Serbian 39-year-old, a 24-time Grand Slam champion, took the first set 7-6 (3) and was leading when De Minaur withdrew early in the second set due to injury.

Djokovic’s path to the final included a quarterfinal victory over top-seeded Alexander Zverev of Germany, followed by a semifinal win against third-seeded Daniil Medvedev of Russia. The tournament marked Djokovic’s return to the China Open for the first time since 2015, when he last won the title by defeating Rafael Nadal in the final.

Known as the most successful men’s singles player at this event, Djokovic previously claimed the China Open title in 2009, 2010, consecutively from 2012 to 2015, and now added the 2026 championship to his record.
