A German shepherd has played a significant role in supporting her owner through recovery following major heart surgery. Janet Head, a 64-year-old driving examiner from Ryde, Isle of Wight, described how her dog Rosie provided steadfast companionship during her partner Mark’s recuperation.

Mark underwent a quadruple heart bypass procedure three years ago, after which he experienced considerable weakness. According to Janet, Rosie immediately recognized the change in his condition and remained constantly by his side throughout the recovery period. Janet credited the dog’s attentiveness and loyalty with contributing to Mark’s emotional and physical healing.

Rosie, soon to turn six, reportedly stayed close to Mark, offering comfort and encouragement during his rehabilitation. Since the surgery, Mark has made considerable progress, resuming activities such as long walks with Rosie, playing golf, and returning to work. Janet expressed deep appreciation for the dog’s role, calling her “amazing” for the support she provided during a challenging time.
