Doha Bank has successfully raised $500 million through a five-year senior unsecured bond issuance under its Euro Medium Term Note (EMTN) Programme. The bonds were issued by Doha Finance Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Doha Bank, and carry an unconditional and irrevocable guarantee from the bank.
This latest issuance marks the bank’s first public bond offering since shareholders approved an increase of the EMTN programme limit from $3 billion to $4.25 billion at the General Assembly in April 2026. The notes were priced with a coupon rate of 6.25% and a spread of 140 basis points over U.S. Treasuries.
The issuance mandate was announced on the morning of October 26, 2026, with initial pricing thoughts (IPTs) set at a spread of 170 basis points. Demand accelerated rapidly as GCC markets opened, with the order book reaching $1 billion in less than two hours. Following the opening of European markets, the book expanded further, peaking at $1.7 billion and supported by strong participation from European investors. Ultimately, the bond’s pricing was tightened by 30 basis points from the initial guidance, reflecting robust investor appetite.
Investor allocation was well-diversified, with over 70% of the bonds allocated to investors based in the Gulf region and more than 45% distributed to international investors primarily from Europe and Asia.
The latest issuance builds on Doha Bank’s established presence in the debt capital markets. In 2025, the bank issued several notable bonds, including a $500 million bond in March that was later increased to $775 million, a $500 million 5.5-year bond in September priced at a spread of 105 basis points over U.S. Treasuries, the inaugural $150 million digitally native note listed on the London Stock Exchange’s International Securities Market, and QR500 million in sustainable bonds—the first sustainable bonds listed on the Qatar Stock Exchange.
Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Fahad bin Faisal Al Thani, Group Chief Executive Officer of Doha Bank, highlighted the strong investor confidence demonstrated by the threefold oversubscription and significant international participation. He noted that despite a challenging market environment, the outcome underscores the bank’s ability to attract international capital and diversify its funding sources. Sheikh Abdulrahman also expressed gratitude to Qatar Central Bank for its ongoing support, as well as to the joint lead managers and investors for their continued trust in Doha Bank.
