Doha is set to host the fourth International Scientific Conference on Social Responsibility on September 21, convening academics, researchers, government officials, private-sector leaders, and representatives from non-profit organisations. The event will focus on evaluating the social impact of responsible practices within the framework of sustainable development.

Themed “From Action to Impact: Measuring the Societal Impact of Responsible Practices in Sustainable Development,” the 2026 conference is organised by the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies in collaboration with the International Islamic University Malaysia, Qatar National Library, the Regional Network for Consulting, and the Arab Journal of Social Responsibility.

Details were unveiled during a press briefing at the Doha Institute’s headquarters. Dr Mohamed bin Saif al-Kuwari, International Ambassador for Social Responsibility and chair of the conference, highlighted that the event is taking place under the honorary patronage of HE Dr Hamad bin Abdulaziz al-Kuwari, Minister of State and President of Qatar National Library. Dr al-Kuwari emphasized that the conference aims to shift focus toward measuring the tangible outcomes of social responsibility initiatives and their effects on society.

He noted that the concept of social responsibility is evolving, with growing expectations for institutions to demonstrate not only the initiatives they undertake but also the measurable changes these efforts bring to communities and individuals. The conference seeks to encourage a transition from a “culture of action” to a “culture of impact,” prioritizing the assessment of results and value generated across economic, social, and environmental dimensions rather than simply the quantity of activities performed.

As part of the programme, several organisations will be recognised for their corporate practices that have delivered significant social impact. Additionally, an award will be presented for the best scientific research paper. The conference will also coincide with the launch of the fifth issue of the Arab Journal of Social Responsibility.

Khalid al-Rumaithi, vice-president of Internal Communications at QNB Group, expressed that the bank’s sponsorship underscores its commitment to integrating social responsibility into corporate strategy and the broader role of institutions in promoting sustainable development.
