Doha Design District (DDD), supported by Msheireb Properties, has revealed the 20 projects shortlisted for the final stage of its Public Art Open Call, highlighting the program’s wide-reaching appeal to artists and designers worldwide. The initiative attracted over 220 submissions from creatives representing 53 nationalities, underscoring a strong global interest in engaging with the urban environment and community through public art.
The shortlisted proposals include five from Qatar and others representing a diverse range of countries, including the United States with three entries, Lebanon with two, and single submissions from France, Egypt, Jordan, Bahrain, Indonesia, Japan, India, Finland, Tunisia, Kuwait, and Thailand. This selection reflects the initiative's ambition to bring varied cultural perspectives to Doha’s cityscape.
Four winning projects will be chosen from the shortlisted entries through a process combining jury evaluation and public voting. The public is invited to review the proposals in person at the Doha Design District Headquarters on the first floor and cast their votes online between June 18 and June 25. The initiative aims to foster community involvement in the creative development of the city’s public spaces.
