Domestic gold prices in Bangladesh have declined for the third time within ten days, reflecting a broader downturn in the international commodities market. The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) announced on Friday a reduction of Tk 2,158 in the rate of premier 22-carat gold, bringing the price to Tk 224,182 per bhori, effective nationwide from 10:00 a.m.
This latest adjustment marks a total decline of Tk 7,115 per bhori for 22-carat gold over the past ten days, following previous cuts of Tk 1,691 on Thursday and Tk 3,266 on October 13. The association also confirmed concurrent price reductions across other gold purities and silver.
Dewan Aminul Islam Shaheen, chairman of the BAJUS Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring, attributed the frequent revisions to fluctuations in the global gold market. He explained that the domestic pricing structure is closely tied to international benchmark rates, resulting in responsive upward or downward adjustments based on global price movements.
According to BAJUS, the decrease corresponds with a fall in the price of Tejabi (pure) gold in the local market and reflects prevailing economic conditions assessed during a recent review. Under the revised schedule, hallmarked 22-carat gold is now priced at Tk 19,220 per gram, inclusive of Value Added Tax (VAT), aligning with the Tk 224,182 rate per bhori based on the standard 11.664-gram measurement.
Similar price cuts were applied to other gold grades. The rate for 21-carat gold fell by Tk 2,099 to Tk 214,093 per bhori from Tk 216,192. Meanwhile, 18-carat gold dropped by Tk 1,808 to Tk 183,883 per bhori, down from Tk 185,691. Traditional method gold saw a decline of Tk 1,458, settling at Tk 150,232 per bhori, compared with the previous Tk 151,690.
These ongoing price adjustments underscore the sensitivity of Bangladesh’s gold market to international trends and local economic factors amid continued volatility.
