Kimberly Guilfoyle, the current US ambassador to Greece and former fiancée of Donald Trump Jr, reportedly asked a prominent Trump donor to pay off a $100,000 American Express credit card bill in the lead-up to her confirmation hearing, according to leaked text messages. The messages, exchanged with Eric Deters, a Kentucky-based attorney and Trump supporter, were obtained by media outlets and reveal requests for financial assistance as Guilfoyle prepared to assume her diplomatic post in Athens.

In the communications, Guilfoyle, 57, urged Deters to make the payment directly to American Express, suggesting it would avoid appearing on any official records. She wrote to him via Signal, an encrypted messaging platform, saying, “Honey please I need you to get this done for me today,” emphasizing a sense of urgency. The texts also include references to Guilfoyle’s claimed access to high-ranking officials within the Trump administration. She asserted that various secretaries, including defense, transportation, treasury, commerce, and the IRS commissioner, responded promptly to her, along with the FBI director, Kash Patel, whose name she apparently misspelled as “cash Patel.”

Deters has reportedly paid Guilfoyle $300,000 in speaking fees since their first meeting in 2020, when he organized Freedom Fest, an event in Kentucky opposing COVID-19 restrictions. His financial support also extended to other members of the Trump family and associated political entities, including $200,000 in speaking fees to Donald Trump Jr., $100,000 to Eric Trump, and $125,000 to a pro-Trump political action committee.

Guilfoyle’s attorney, Jesse Binnall, questioned the authenticity of the exchanged messages but declined to offer further clarification. He maintained that Guilfoyle had participated in events prior to her nomination and was owed reimbursement for travel expenses related to supporting what he described as “patriotic events.”

The text exchanges further show Guilfoyle expressing concern over creating a documented paper trail through standard messaging. She urged Deters to cease using typical communication channels and to rely exclusively on encrypted platforms like Signal for their correspondence.

The State Department has been contacted for comment regarding the situation but has not provided a response. Guilfoyle’s involvement with the MAGA movement and past marriage to California Governor Gavin Newsom have drawn additional public interest in light of these revelations. The contrast between the personal financial requests and her official diplomatic role underscores ongoing scrutiny of political figures close to former President Trump.
