Malaysian singer Misha Omar has described the late Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali as "an angel," reflecting on her experience portraying the prominent figure in the 2011 production of *Mahathir the Musical*. Misha, known for her hit song "Bunga-Bunga Cinta," called the opportunity one of the most meaningful in her career.
Misha recounted a private meeting with Dr Siti Hasmah at the Petronas Twin Towers, arranged by theatre producer Siti Rohaya Attan to help the singer prepare for the role. Despite Dr Siti Hasmah’s status as the wife of then-Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, Misha said the former first lady treated her with warmth and humility.
“She was very kind — like an angel. She treated me, someone who was still green and inexperienced at the time, with such kindness,” Misha said. She emphasized that Dr Siti Hasmah maintained a gentle and approachable demeanor, refusing to create any distance between them despite her high-profile position.
Misha expressed gratitude for the personal experience, noting that Dr Siti Hasmah was composed yet had a playful side. She recalled an anecdote from their meeting during the musical’s staging when she asked to take a photograph with her. Dr Siti Hasmah humorously responded with a cheeky demand of “RM5,” leaving a lasting impression on Misha.
Through her reflections, Misha highlighted Dr Siti Hasmah’s legacy as a pioneering and compassionate figure, appreciative of the chance to have interacted closely with one of Malaysia’s respected public personalities.
