A drag racing accident occurred on Friday during a qualifying round of the FuelTech Motorsport UK British Drag Racing Championship at Santa Pod Raceway in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire. The incident involved two cars racing from the starting line when one vehicle lost control and swerved in front of the other, resulting in a collision.

Video footage of the event shows the out-of-control car spinning and striking its competitor, causing debris to scatter across the track. The car that lost control was propelled through the air, breaching the safety barrier and leaving the course.

Despite the dramatic nature of the crash, both drivers sustained only minor injuries. Matt Davison, one of the drivers involved, described the moment of collision, noting that he braked hard enough to lift the rear wheels off the ground and deployed the parachute but was unable to avoid the crash due to the close proximity of the vehicles.

Race officials are expected to review the circumstances surrounding the crash as both drivers recover.
