A 58-year-old man from Maribyrnong was seriously injured in a road rage incident involving multiple moped riders in Glenroy on Saturday evening. The attack took place at approximately 7:15 p.m. on Pascoe Vale Road near the intersection with Glenroy Road.

According to police, the victim was driving southbound when his vehicle was sideswiped by a moped carrying two people. The rider was believed to be traveling in a group with another moped, which also had two passengers. Following the sideswipe, all four individuals on the mopeds stopped and approached the driver’s vehicle, where the victim and his passenger were inside.

A brief verbal confrontation ensued before one of the moped riders allegedly threatened the driver and produced a knife. The 58-year-old man was then punched in the head and stabbed, resulting in a significant injury that police say will require surgery. After the assault, the four moped riders fled the scene, heading south.

Emergency services transported the injured driver to hospital for treatment. Detectives from the Merri-Bek Criminal Investigation Unit are investigating the incident and have appealed for witnesses to come forward. Authorities are particularly interested in any dashcam footage that may have captured the events leading up to or following the attack.
