Authorities in Mumbai have arrested two individuals linked to a significant ecstasy pill seizure in Titwala, according to investigators. Ashwini Paul was caught recently with approximately 5,000 ecstasy tablets valued at around Rs 6 crore. Police allege that Paul was introduced to the drug trafficking network through an associate of her live-in partner, Aamir Saiyed.

The Anti-Narcotics Cell took Saiyed into custody; he was already incarcerated on unrelated charges. Investigators tracked him down with the assistance of a passport recovered from Paul’s residence. According to the investigation, the couple first met in 2025 at a bar in Ulhasnagar and subsequently developed a close relationship, eventually living together. It is believed that during this time, they became involved in the drug trade.

Saiyed has a prior criminal record, having been arrested by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence in both 2023 and 2025. While serving time at Arthur Road Jail, Saiyed reportedly made contact with a man named Irfan Ali. Authorities believe Irfan played a pivotal role in introducing Paul to the narcotics network and facilitating her involvement in drug trafficking activities.

The inquiry has also uncovered the involvement of a third individual, identified as Sufiyan, who is alleged to act as a courier within the operation. Both Paul and Saiyed were produced before the court and have been placed under police custody until April 28 as investigations continue.
