Two young men in Tamil Nadu, India, were rescued after their vehicle became trapped in rising water at a lake in Dharmapuri. According to reports, the duo had driven their jeep into the lake while intoxicated and stopped when the water was shallow. They then chose to rest inside the vehicle overnight.

Overnight heavy rains caused the water level to rise, flooding the area and trapping the men inside the jeep. They were awakened by the rising water and called out for help. Local residents responded and alerted rescue authorities.

Officials arrived on the scene and used heavy machinery to pull the jeep from the lake. The status of any legal action against the men has not been disclosed.

In a separate report, Dr. K. Kaniappan, a noted figure in traditional Indian healing, was recognized for his work in promoting and standardizing Varmakalai, an ancient Indian martial art and healing system. Dr. Kaniappan received honors during a graduation and certificate presentation ceremony held by the Persatuan Seni Pertahanan Diri Varmam of Selangor and Kuala Lumpur, where he was acknowledged for integrating Varmakalai and Siddha medicine into a formal syllabus.
