A woman from the Bronx was fatally struck by a vehicle in Paramus, New Jersey, following a minor traffic collision on Monday evening, according to local authorities. The incident occurred around 5 p.m. on Route 17.

The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office identified the individuals involved as Estuardo Rodriguez and Krisiann Reyes Rivera, both aged 31. After a minor fender-bender between their vehicles, Rivera approached Rodriguez’s 2024 Acura, which was towing a U-Haul trailer, and struck one of its windows, officials said.

As Rivera returned to her car, Rodriguez accelerated, striking her with the trailer’s tires. Witnesses pursuing Rodriguez’s vehicle reported attempting to prevent his escape; they were able to contain the car within traffic about half a mile from the initial incident and flagged down law enforcement officers.

Rivera was transported to Hackensack University Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead. Investigations determined that Rodriguez had been driving under the influence and held a suspended driver’s license at the time of the crash.

Rodriguez was arrested on charges that include vehicular homicide, according to Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella. Authorities confirmed he was booked into custody. Efforts to reach a representative or attorney for Rodriguez were unsuccessful.
