Dubai has established a media narrative committee aimed at defining and enhancing the strategic framework for the emirate’s communication efforts to achieve greater impact globally. The initiative follows a decision by Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Media Council.

The newly formed committee will be chaired by Mona Ghanem Al Marri, Vice-Chairperson and Managing Director of the Dubai Media Council. It is tasked with setting the primary priorities and key pillars of Dubai’s media narrative across both public and private sector entities. Its responsibilities include coordinating messaging among various government agencies, combating misinformation, guiding Dubai’s engagement with international media, and shaping perceptions among global audiences.

Al Marri emphasized the critical role of narrative power in today’s fast-evolving environment, noting that a cohesive and factual media narrative represents a vital tool for cities seeking to enhance their strategic influence on the world stage. She highlighted the importance of developing a coordinated approach to media communications to help build awareness and shape perceptions in a credible and transparent manner.

The committee is expected to operate within an integrated framework focused on clear messaging, collaborative efforts, complementary roles, and rapid responsiveness. Use of accurate data and facts will be central to its work, aiming to foster credibility and maintain transparency in Dubai’s global communications. This move reflects a broader recognition of the strategic value of shaping narratives to strengthen Dubai’s international standing and actively contribute to future developments.
