Dubai Municipality has announced comprehensive preparations to address the upcoming rainy season, mobilizing personnel, equipment, and operational plans to ensure public safety and infrastructure resilience. The announcement, made Thursday, comes as the United Arab Emirates braces for cooler and more variable weather conditions over the weekend.
Dubai Municipality has activated an extensive response system focused on the maintenance and cleaning of stormwater drainage networks and inlets, as well as readiness at wastewater treatment facilities. The municipality’s approach emphasizes proactive operational and technical measures aimed at minimizing disruption from rain-related events.
A specialized field force comprising 675 personnel and nearly 1,100 pieces of equipment has been deployed to manage potential emergencies. Key resources include 200 water tankers, 300 diesel pumps designated to mitigate rainwater accumulation, 200 vehicles, and 10 temporary water collection lakes to contain excess runoff. Additionally, the municipality has deployed three jetting units for drainage maintenance, 13 water recycling units, three generators, and 24 cranes, all intended to maintain essential services regardless of weather conditions.
In parallel, the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure has intensified its nationwide efforts to prepare federal roads and related infrastructure for the rainy season. This includes preventive inspections and maintenance of stormwater drainage systems, pumping stations, and culverts. The ministry has also enhanced monitoring systems and field response capabilities to manage the impact of rain on transportation networks.
Together, these coordinated measures by Dubai Municipality and the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure aim to mitigate flooding risks, support effective stormwater management, and maintain safe, functional urban and transport environments throughout the rainy season.
