Dubai has launched a new digital platform aimed at helping families navigate the safe and responsible use of artificial intelligence (AI) among children. Developed by the Dubai Centre for Artificial Intelligence (DCAI) in partnership with the Community Development Authority (CDA) and the Dubai Future Foundation, the platform—named GenDubAI—targets parents and children aged eight to 15, providing resources in both Arabic and English.

GenDubAI seeks to foster a collaborative learning environment, enabling parents and children to understand AI together rather than allowing children to explore the technology independently. The mobile-friendly platform offers interactive educational content designed to explain AI fundamentals, its potential benefits, and associated challenges. Through practical guidance, the initiative aims to empower parents to support their children’s development while encouraging critical thinking, creativity, and responsible engagement with AI.

Hessa Bint Essa Buhumaid, Director General of the CDA, emphasized the importance of raising awareness within families to help younger generations confidently and responsibly interact with AI. “Preparing for the future begins with people,” she stated, underscoring that this initiative aligns with Dubai’s broader social objectives, including the Dubai Social Agenda 33. She highlighted that GenDubAI places families at the center of the AI learning journey, transforming technology into a shared opportunity for dialogue and creativity that reflects local values and cultural identity.

Khalfan Belhoul, CEO of the Dubai Future Foundation, noted the UAE’s position among global leaders in AI adoption and the widespread use of smart devices by children both in educational settings and at home. He described GenDubAI as a tool to help parents guide their children in harnessing AI’s opportunities while understanding its risks. “Knowledge of safe and responsible AI use is one of the greatest gifts parents can give their children to help them thrive in the age of artificial intelligence,” Belhoul said.

Saeed Al Falasi, executive director of DCAI, characterized GenDubAI as a first-of-its-kind platform built around the concept of “family moments.” He said the platform’s content is designed to integrate with daily life, promoting meaningful conversations about AI and supporting children’s intellectual and creative growth. Al Falasi also emphasized the platform’s alignment with the UAE’s Year of the Family initiative, linking AI education to broader efforts to enhance family engagement and child development.

The GenDubAI initiative reflects Dubai’s ambition to prepare future-ready generations for a technology-driven world by combining technological advancement with a commitment to awareness, responsibility, and respect for cultural values. The platform is intended to evolve continuously, with plans to introduce new content, tools, and educational pathways to address ongoing advances in AI and the shifting needs of families.
