Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) reported the registration of more than 196,000 new vehicles during the first half of 2026, reflecting ongoing growth in the emirate’s population, urban areas, and economic activity. The figure, which averages over 1,000 vehicles registered daily, underscores the increasing demand for transport services in the city.

Between January and June, the RTA’s Licensing Agency recorded a total of 196,042 first-time vehicle registrations, amounting to roughly 32,000 registrations per month. This surge has been attributed to Dubai’s rapid expansion and the resulting greater need for personal and commercial transportation.

Ahmed Mahboob, CEO of the RTA’s Licensing Agency, noted that the steady rise in vehicle registrations demonstrates the scale of Dubai’s development across various sectors, which continues to drive up requirements for vehicle registration and inspection services. In response, the RTA is advancing efforts to enhance service efficiency through the deployment of integrated systems utilizing advanced technologies and smart solutions.

These improvements aim to streamline administrative procedures, accelerate transaction times, and increase the precision of vehicle inspections and licensing processes. The initiative reflects Dubai’s broader strategy to adapt its infrastructure and public services in line with its fast-paced growth and urbanisation.
