Nakheel has awarded Mar Marine & Building Contracting LLC a contract to undertake marine and beach development works on Island B at Dubai Islands, the company announced recently. The project involves upgrading approximately three kilometers of the island’s western shoreline and creating 320 meters of new beach frontage near the Bay Villas residential development. Completion is slated for the fourth quarter of 2027.
Under the contract, Mar Marine will construct new breakwaters and remove existing rock revetments that currently serve as shoreline protection. The company will also rehabilitate and repair several existing beach areas along the western side of Island B, enhancing the coastal environment adjacent to the Bay Villas community.
Bay Villas comprises 636 villas and townhouses and represents a key residential element in Dubai Islands. In August 2025, Nakheel awarded a Dh2.6 billion construction contract to Fibrex Contracting LLC for the development of these homes.
Khalid Al Malik, Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Holding Real Estate—the parent company of Nakheel—stated that the works aim to establish a high-quality coastal environment that complements the broader masterplan for the area.
Dubai Islands is an 18.6-square-kilometer project spanning five islands, designed to expand the Deira coastline. The masterplan envisions accommodating more than 230,000 residents across approximately 62,000 homes, positioning the development as a significant addition to Dubai’s urban landscape.
