Washington Dulles International Airport is set to introduce a dedicated VIP passenger terminal designed to offer enhanced privacy and amenities for certain travelers. The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority (MWAA), which oversees Dulles and Reagan National Airport, announced on Tuesday that it has selected Irish airport management company daa International to develop and operate the new facility.

The planned terminal will include a separate VIP entrance and parking area, private security screening, and exclusive suites and lounges, all distinct from the main airport concourses. The initiative aims to provide a more personalized and efficient airport experience. According to Kevin Cullinane, a spokesperson for daa International, a VIP passenger is defined broadly as any commercial airline traveler seeking a higher level of privacy and service.

The terminal will be constructed over a 30-month period and encompass approximately 37,000 square feet, significantly smaller than the airport’s main terminal building, which totals about 1.3 million square feet. Once completed, daa International, whose parent company is owned by the Irish government, will operate the facility under an initial 20-year agreement.

MWAA’s Chief Revenue Officer Chryssa Westerlund emphasized that the new terminal responds to growing traveler demand and aligns Dulles with other leading international airports that provide premium services for both business and leisure travelers.

The announcement comes months after President Donald Trump unveiled a comprehensive, multibillion-dollar proposal to renovate Washington Dulles International Airport, underscoring ongoing efforts to modernize and expand the facility.
