Dunston moved closer to the summit of their league after a 2-0 victory over North Ferriby on Sunday. The win puts Dunston just four points behind league leaders Bradford Park Avenue, with a game in hand as the season progresses.
The visitors asserted early control in the match, breaking the deadlock in the 34th minute when Wilson Kneeshaw capitalized on a defensive error by North Ferriby to slot the ball into the bottom corner of the net. Dunston extended their lead shortly after halftime when Thomas Halloway was fouled in the penalty area. Wil Shaw converted the resulting spot-kick to make it 2-0.
Following the second goal, Dunston continued to launch counter-attacks, creating several promising opportunities, though they were unable to add to their tally due to resolute defending from North Ferriby. The home side’s best chance of the match came from a well-executed long pass by Olly Green to Jake Day, but Day was unable to control the ball and was denied a scoring opportunity.
The result enhances Dunston’s position in the league standings, keeping them firmly in contention for the title as they prepare for upcoming fixtures. North Ferriby, meanwhile, were unable to make the most of their limited chances and will look to improve as the season continues.
