A 34-year-old driver has been charged with vehicular manslaughter following a single-vehicle crash in Queens that resulted in the death of a 23-year-old passenger early Sunday morning. The incident occurred just after 4 a.m. on the Grand Central Parkway near the Steinway overpass.

According to police, Anthony Dickson was driving a gray Honda Accord carrying four passengers, including Arianna Arregui, 23, a recent graduate of Brooklyn College. The group was reportedly returning from a birthday party when Dickson lost control of the vehicle. The left rear wheel of the car struck the curb dividing the highway, causing the vehicle to skid sideways, overturn, and collide with a light pole.

Arregui, seated in the backseat, sustained severe head and body trauma and was transported to Elmhurst Hospital Center, where she was pronounced dead. Dickson and the other three female passengers, aged 23, 24, and 32, escaped the crash with either minor injuries or no injuries at all.

Authorities have indicated that Dickson was allegedly driving under the influence at the time of the accident. His arraignment was scheduled for Monday. Investigations into the precise circumstances of the crash are ongoing.
