Dylan Youmbi and Brad Abbott have both set ambitious targets for the upcoming season as they join new clubs with promotion in mind.

Youmbi, 22, is aiming to help Alfreton Town return to the National League North following the club’s relegation from Step 2 last season. The striker, who scored twice and provided one assist in nine appearances, expressed optimism about the club’s chances. “I enjoyed my time here last season and spoke to the gaffer across the summer about the plan of going straight back up,” Youmbi said. Alfreton’s management confirmed the player drew interest from several clubs at higher levels after a strong finish to last season, but Youmbi chose to stay and lead the team’s promotion push.

Meanwhile, 31-year-old midfielder Brad Abbott has joined Bradford Park Avenue from Cleethorpes Town, where he helped secure promotion from the same division in the 2024-25 season. Abbott, who has extensive experience working under Avenue manager Craig Elliott during his previous spell at Boston, said he was motivated by the club’s objectives. “The gaffer has outlined what he wants to achieve and it’s a club that should be above this level,” he remarked. Abbott added that he hopes to add another promotion to his record.

Bradford Park Avenue’s manager, Craig Elliott, highlighted Abbott’s leadership qualities and familiarity with the league. “Brad has recently captained Cleethorpes Town to the title in this league so he fully understands what is needed to be successful at this level,” Elliott noted.

Both players enter the new season aiming to make significant contributions as their clubs target elevation in the non-league pyramid.
