Earl Spencer, brother of the late Diana, Princess of Wales, has married television presenter Cat Jarman in a private ceremony held in Arizona. The wedding took place on Friday near Cathedral Rock, a notable landmark close to Sedona. The couple shared photographs from the event, expressing their happiness at the progression of their relationship from colleagues to close friends and now to partners in marriage.
Charles Spencer, 61, has been married three times prior to this union. His new spouse, Dr. Cat Jarman, 44, is a Norwegian-born archaeologist known for her work on BBC Two’s “Digging for Britain” and as a co-host of the history podcast “The Rabbit Hole Detectives,” which she presents alongside the Reverend Richard Coles. The couple first met when Spencer was invited to review her 2021 book “River Kings,” a study of Viking history. Their shared professional interests also include participation in archaeological digs.
Following their marriage, Dr. Jarman assumes the title Countess of Spencer. Spencer’s previous marriages were to Victoria Lockwood in 1989, Caroline Hutton in 2001, and Karen Gordon in 2011. He is a father to five daughters and two sons from these unions.
In recent developments related to his personal life, Dr. Jarman settled a High Court claim against Spencer’s former wife, Karen Gordon, in 2024. The case arose from allegations that Gordon had improperly disclosed Dr. Jarman’s private medical information, including details about her multiple sclerosis diagnosis. Dr. Jarman described the settlement as a positive step allowing her to move forward.
