A Manhattan neurologist was arrested on Tuesday following allegations that he sexually abused two female patients during medical appointments at his East Village practice. Dr. Tariq Lamki, 51, faces charges of sexual abuse and forcible touching related to incidents that occurred on August 25 and September 2, according to Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg.

The two victims, aged 32 and 23, reportedly were molested by Lamki while receiving massages in a closed-door exam room at the 14th Street Medical Arts building. Prosecutors stated that Lamki groped the women over their clothing during the sessions.

“A doctor’s appointment should never end in sexual abuse,” Bragg said in a statement, urging other potential victims to come forward and contact the authorities.

Lamki was apprehended by the New York Police Department and held on $25,000 bail, as ordered by a Manhattan Criminal Court judge. Law enforcement officials confirmed that the doctor has no prior criminal record.

The NYPD subsequently released images of Lamki to the public in an effort to identify any additional victims. Authorities have encouraged individuals who believe they may have been abused by the doctor to contact the Manhattan District Attorney’s Intimate Partner and Sexual Violence Bureau, the NYPD Sex Crimes Hotline, or Crime Stoppers.

This case is under ongoing investigation as officials seek to determine whether there are more victims connected to Dr. Lamki’s medical practice.
