Eastbourne Town advanced to the second qualifying round of the FA Trophy for the first time in their history following a narrow victory over Bedfont Sports at The Saffrons. The match featured early chances for both sides before Eastbourne secured the winning goal in the second half.

Bedfont Sports started strongly, with winger Khalid Simmo challenging the Eastbourne defense. Simmo’s early effort was denied by goalkeeper JJ Walker after being blocked, and he subsequently forced a near-post save from Chris Winterton. Despite these attempts, Bedfont was unable to capitalize on their early pressure.

Eastbourne Town responded with offensive threats of their own, including a critical clearance off the goal line from the visitors when Alfie Essex nearly opened the scoring for Bedfont Sports, who play in the Isthmian League South Central division. However, the deadlock was eventually broken by Eastbourne just after the interval.

The decisive moment came when Eliot Jenks delivered a cross that struck the crossbar, allowing Sonny Walsh to capitalize on the rebound and score. Following the goal, Eastbourne maintained control of the match, with Winterton making a crucial save late in the game to deny Bedfont’s Dan Williams and preserve the lead.

With this result, Eastbourne Town progresses further in the FA Trophy, marking a milestone achievement in the club’s history. Bedfont Sports, meanwhile, exited the competition amid spirited attempts to level the match.
