An extra on the set of the BBC soap opera EastEnders has been cleared of sexual assault allegations following an incident at Elstree Studios in Hertfordshire. The man, who is reportedly in his 50s, was arrested in May 2025 after a woman accused him of forcibly kissing her. Security personnel and bystanders intervened near the Queen Vic pub set before police arrived and took the individual into custody on suspicion of common assault and sexual assault involving two alleged victims.
The arrest took place in the presence of cast members, including Adam Woodyatt, who portrays Ian Beale on the long-running series. According to reports, a female crew member was also among those who stepped in during the incident. The man was handcuffed and removed from the studio grounds amid the disturbance.
Police have since confirmed that the man was released without any further action, effectively clearing him of the accusations.
Sources close to the production described the episode as the most startling on-set event since EastEnders first aired in 1985. Additional details emerged suggesting the individual had been frustrated over perceived unequal treatment, specifically being served inferior food compared to senior staff members, who reportedly had access to biscuits.
The production company and EastEnders representatives have not publicly commented on the matter.
