The Emirates Drug Establishment (EDE) is set to participate in the Make it in the Emirates 2026 exhibition, scheduled from May 4 to 7 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC). Over the four-day event, EDE will highlight initiatives designed to promote the growth and competitiveness of the UAE’s pharmaceutical manufacturing sector while enhancing the overall efficiency and sustainability of its industry ecosystem.
At its exhibition space, EDE will present a range of national pharmaceutical manufacturers, including 10 companies producing human and veterinary medicines. The platform will also feature specialised manufacturers of agricultural and health-related products, as well as both established firms and start-ups involved in producing generics, advanced pharmaceutical technologies, medical devices, veterinary products, fertilizers, and pesticides—all locally manufactured within the UAE.
The Make it in the Emirates event serves as a significant forum to drive industrial development and attract investment. EDE’s involvement aims to foster greater collaboration with domestic and international stakeholders, contributing to the development of a more effective and globally competitive pharmaceutical ecosystem in the UAE.
Dr. Fatima Al Kaabi, Director-General of EDE, emphasized the organization’s progress in improving regulatory efficiency and responsiveness to sector needs. She cited accelerated registration and licensing processes and streamlined pathways for bringing pharmaceutical products to market as key achievements. “Our participation demonstrates our ability to align regulatory frameworks with the requirements of advanced industries, shortening time-to-market and enhancing the readiness of the local market to respond to emerging developments,” Al Kaabi stated.
She also highlighted the role of digital solutions in advancing service delivery, boosting transparency, and increasing operational effectiveness. These efforts are intended to create a business environment conducive to growth, facilitating company expansion within local and international markets.
EDE’s presence at the event underscores its commitment to strengthening the UAE’s pharmaceutical sector, promoting localisation, and establishing strategic partnerships that support knowledge transfer and the adoption of advanced technologies. The institution aims to leverage this opportunity to advance the UAE’s standing as a regional hub for innovative and sustainable pharmaceutical manufacturing.
