The Ministry of Education in Oman formalized a cooperation agreement with OQ Refineries and Petroleum Industries Company on Wednesday to advance career guidance and development within the energy sector. The partnership aims to equip students with practical skills and deepen their understanding of professional environments through a series of coordinated programs.
The agreement was signed in Suhar by Dr. Intisar bint Abdullah Ambusaidi, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Education for Educational Support Programmes, and Faisal bin Ahmed al Balushi, Chief Human Resources and Technology Officer at OQ. The collaboration encompasses three main initiatives designed to bridge education and industry needs.
One cornerstone is the "Work Experience" programme, which places students at OQ sites to receive hands-on training in both technical and administrative roles. This exposure is intended to enhance their practical competencies and better prepare them for future employment within the energy sector.
In addition, the partnership includes a training programme aimed at career guidance specialists. Through specialized workshops, these professionals will gain updated knowledge about the evolving energy landscape, enabling them to better advise students on career opportunities in the oil and gas industry.
The cooperation framework also features a comprehensive media and educational campaign. This effort seeks to raise awareness about the future of the oil and gas sector, tailoring training and informational content to suit various audiences. Ongoing assessment and monitoring processes are planned to gauge the impact and efficiency of the implemented activities.
Together, these initiatives reflect a strategic effort to align educational objectives with the needs of Oman’s energy sector, supporting the development of a skilled workforce prepared to meet industry challenges.
