EDVEN Ying secured the men’s title at the PGM Tiara Melaka Closed Championship with an impressive nine-under-par 63 final round, finishing at 11-under-par 205 to claim victory by one stroke. The event took place at Tiara Melaka Golf & Country Club, where the course’s challenging layout tested the competitors’ course management and putting skills.

Edven, last season’s Player of the Year on the PGM Tour, demonstrated exceptional play by eagling the par-five second hole and recording seven birdies without a single bogey. He described the course as tricky, emphasizing the importance of carefully reading the greens to avoid errors. “Overall, I’m happy with the way it turned out,” Edven said after the win. He plans to continue honing his game before competing next in the Asian Tour’s SJM Macao Open from October 15 to 18 at Macau Golf and Country Club, a tournament featuring many of the world’s top players.

For his victory at Tiara Melaka, Edven was awarded RM31,500. Close behind was Nor Heikal Hadi, who carded a bogey-free 66 in the final round to finish second at 10-under-par 206. Sharing third place on seven-under-par 209 were Marcus Lim, who led after the second round, and Kemarol Baharin. In the amateur category, Nor Haqeim Hadi claimed the top prize.

The tournament also featured a notable highlight when Casper Loh recorded a hole-in-one during the final round on the 168-metre 11th hole, using a six-iron. This marked his fourth hole-in-one to date.

In the women’s division, Zulaikah Nasser captured her third PGM women’s title in her last four starts by finishing with a two-under-par 214 total. She secured the Ladies Championship by a three-stroke margin, earning RM10,000 in prize money. Zulaikah described the course as tough but a valuable preparation ahead of the upcoming Ladies Tournament, scheduled from October 1 to 3 at Mines Resort & Golf Club, where a RM100,000 prize purse will be contested.

Runner-up Pang Hee Jie finished at one-over-par 217, while amateur Amirah Nur Hanania topped the women’s amateur leaderboard.

PGM Tour general manager Nik Mustapha expressed satisfaction with the tournament’s execution across the Meadow and Woodland nines at Tiara Melaka, noting that prize funds of RM180,000 for the men and RM30,000 for the women were on offer. The Ladies Tournament will be followed by the PGM Palm Resort Closed Championship, marking the conclusion of the 2026 domestic season. The season finale is scheduled for November 24 to 26 at Palm Resort Golf & Country Club in Johor, with prize purses similar to those at Tiara Melaka.
