David Egan continued to ride for Amo Racing’s principal trainer Kevin Philippart de Foy at Newmarket on Wednesday, amid ongoing speculation about his future with the operation owned by Kia Joorabchian.

Egan, who was appointed as Amo Racing's No. 1 jockey in December 2023 following the departure of Kevin Stott, had his contract extended through the end of 2028 last October. At the time of the renewal, Joorabchian praised Egan for his professionalism and dedication, describing him as one of the best riders in the sport and highlighting his strong work ethic and representation of the team.

Despite these assurances, rumors have circulated suggesting a possible split between Egan and Joorabchian. Both parties have remained publicly reserved on the matter, with no official confirmation or denial. Sources indicate that, if such a separation occurs, Joorabchian may adopt a strategy of selecting riders on a ‘best-available’ basis rather than maintaining a fixed lead jockey.

Meanwhile, Egan maintains his association with Amo Racing and is scheduled to ride Treasurer, trained by Charlie Fellowes, at Ascot on Thursday. The continuity in Egan’s participation suggests that, for now, he remains an active figure within the stable’s racing plans.
