The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) has confirmed the removal of championship stars from the national team’s jerseys for the duration of the ongoing FIFA World Cup, which runs until July 19. The change comes in accordance with FIFA regulations that prohibit the display of continental and tournament-winning stars on kits during World Cup matches.

According to the EFA, FIFA notified all participating teams several months ago about this requirement, which is uniformly applied across all World Cup competitors. The association emphasized that Egypt was fully informed of the directive well before the tournament and had worked with relevant parties to implement the necessary adjustments. The federation characterized the alteration as a routine measure rather than a source of contention.

In addition to removing the stars, FIFA mandated a change in the color of Egypt’s shirt numbers, instructing the team to switch from gold to white. This change aims to enhance visibility for players on the field, match officials, and television broadcasters. The EFA confirmed that these updates have been completed by the national team’s kit supplier in line with FIFA’s guidelines.

Egypt is competing in Group B, where they will face Belgium, New Zealand, and Iran. This marks Egypt’s fourth appearance in the FIFA World Cup, having previously qualified in 1934, 1990, and 2018.
