However, maritime security company Ambrey reported that a drone struck a U.S.-owned gas storage tanker docked at the port, an assertion that has not been officially confirmed by Egyptian authorities.

Port services provider Inchape noted that local officials acted quickly after an explosion was reported at the Mediterranean facility.
