EgyptAir Cargo has entered into a strategic partnership with Xinjiang Airport Group in Urumqi, China, aimed at enhancing global trade and logistics connections. The agreement was formalized during a signing ceremony attended by Captain Ehab El-Tahtawy, Chairman of EgyptAir Cargo, and Tao Runwen, Chairman of Xinjiang Airport Group, alongside senior representatives from both organisations. The event also included the attendance of Rach Wang, Chairman of Oriental Sky Aviation, and Charlotte Pang, EgyptAir’s agent in China.

This collaboration aligns with EgyptAir’s broader expansion strategy, which involves converting two Airbus A330-200 passenger aircraft into dedicated freighters to increase cargo capacity. The move is intended to enable the airline to serve new international markets and address growing demand for effective air freight services.

El-Tahtawy underscored the initiative’s goal of establishing a reliable air corridor linking China with Africa. By leveraging EgyptAir’s extensive global network alongside Urumqi’s strategic location in western China, the partnership seeks to offer enhanced logistical support that fosters economic development. The corridor is expected to facilitate streamlined cargo movement and deliver dependable supply chain solutions between the two regions.

Tao Runwen emphasized the significance of positioning Urumqi Airport as a key logistics hub connecting China with the Middle East, Africa, and Europe. He described the agreement as a crucial step toward strengthening international supply chains and expanding opportunities for commercial cooperation across these areas.

Overall, the partnership aims to deepen cooperation in flight operations and logistics, with both parties projecting improved connectivity that supports trade growth between China and Egypt, as well as broader intercontinental linkages.
