EgyptAir posted record profits for the 2024/2025 fiscal year, marking the highest financial performance since the airline's inception, Minister of Civil Aviation Sameh el-Hefny announced during a recent session of the Egyptian Senate. The national carrier achieved these gains in both local and foreign currencies, reflecting robust fiscal results amid a challenging global aviation environment.

Minister el-Hefny attributed the airline’s success to a combination of effective development plans, optimized resource utilization, and a focused effort on enhancing operational efficiency. He underscored that while some airlines pursue a five-star rating, many top-tier carriers worldwide operate within the four-star category without sacrificing service quality. EgyptAir remains committed to maintaining high standards as it continues modernizing its fleet and improving passenger services.

Discussing the broader context of the aviation industry, el-Hefny highlighted its sensitivity to external economic factors, noting that profit margins are typically narrow, usually ranging between 2% and 4%. He pointed to recent global fuel price increases triggered by international conflicts as a significant challenge, which led to additional unexpected costs amounting to approximately $53 million for EgyptAir earlier this year.

Looking forward, the Ministry of Civil Aviation plans to implement a comprehensive strategy aimed at strengthening Egypt’s civil aviation sector. This strategy focuses on expanding airport capacity and enhancing operational efficiency to accommodate growing traffic volumes. The government also intends to continue modernizing the national airline’s fleet and aligning services with international standards to boost the competitiveness of EgyptAir and the broader aviation sector in both regional and global markets.
