Eight people, including six children, were found dead inside a home in Grand Haven Township, Michigan, following a fire, law enforcement officials reported Friday. The victims were discovered when police and firefighters responded to the blaze just before noon at a residence on the eastern shore of Lake Michigan.

Captain Jacob Sparks of the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office said the authorities found the deceased inside the house but have not yet identified all the victims or determined an official cause of death. The children were reportedly between the ages of 5 and 15. Some of the individuals were found with gunshot wounds, though the exact number has not been disclosed.
