Qatar’s General Tax Authority will begin accepting certificates of analysis for registering sweetened drinks electronically through the Dhareeba platform starting November 1. This new system integrates directly with laboratories accredited by the Ministry of Public Health and registered with the Authority, eliminating the need for taxpayers to upload certificates manually.

Under the updated procedure, taxpayers submit product registration applications via the Dhareeba platform and provide samples to accredited laboratories. These laboratories perform tests to determine the types and quantities of sugars and sweeteners present in the products. Once testing is complete and approved, the laboratory transmits the test results and certificate of analysis automatically to the Dhareeba platform.

This electronic integration allows the General Tax Authority’s staff to access test data directly, which aims to expedite the processing of product registration applications. The streamlined approach reduces manual steps and enhances the accuracy and reliability of data received from laboratories.

The launch of the electronic testing system coincides with an expansion in the scope of the excise tax applied to sweetened beverages. The initiative is part of broader efforts by the Authority to strengthen electronic connectivity with relevant entities, automate registration workflows, and improve its digital services. These measures are intended to save time, reduce administrative burdens, and enhance the overall experience for taxpayers.
